"Your who have been rock, gas vapor and spirit,
as star cloud you traveled with speed of light between
the galaxies, and you arrived here now, my beloved friend (my much
loved friend).
And your eyes shine so beautifully, so deeply.
You went on the path, whose track already lay before
you since the non--beginning and that never ends. "
Thich Nhat Hanh
In 1997 Gunter Hamburger and associates came together to create an institute for transformation (as a regional office in Bodensee, southern Germany of an "incorporated association bringing together those interested in applied deep ecology") dedicating its
work to deep-ecological research, education and consultation as a part of the world-wide movement of "The Work That Reconnects". The institute's offerings are extended by the diverse work of Barbara Hamburger and Birgit Anna Weingart. The Institut works on the basis of the realizations and experiences of general system-theory and humanistic psychology and is engaged with those people, who are expressing through acting against injustice, exploitation and life-negating behavior in nonviolect direct action. We work closely with the incorporated "Association for Applied Deep Ecology (Gesellschaft für angewandte Tiefenökologie" i.e. GaTö), e.g. for example on joint programs. Gunter is founder member of the Association for Applied Deep Ecology.
Our guiding principle is - We see what is good only with the heart, it shapes the content of our work and leads to the yearning to awaken to the acknowledgment,
respect, affection, tenderness, love and beauty of everything that exists, of all that is. That does not mean that we hide those unpleasant aspects of life, that we don't avoid seeing the mistaken exploitative, unjust and life-negating trends. On the contrary -
only if we expose that which makes us angry and annoys us, are we also able to access that passion to grow and preserve those things that are the beautiful, which bring love and the yearning for justice and preservation of life. We want our work to reach out
so that we can connect us once again as humankind with our roots in our true nature, as the Earth itself, a self-organizing part of an alive universe. From this we can learn that our task is to assume what can be called, humankind's responsibility - for the
preservation of life and life-support systems necessary for the flourishing of all future living beings.
We work with the skills, experiences, abilities and authority we have acquired over many years of work and put particular value upon the possibilities for creative and spontaneous expression. We offer space for everyone to seek and express their own truth and welcome the surprises this can bring.
We lead our work with the dance - the "dance of the
life with the Earth" - with it we again can fall in
love with all that is.
